Within every profession there is a certain skillset which those who do it best have in their arsenal, and this is something which anyone who wishes to work in that profession must also possess. CEOs, lawyers, firemen, athletes, all of the very bets who work within those industries have similar skillsets and today we are going to focus on doctors, and what kind of skills the great doctors possess. To help us understand what the best doctors are like, we consulted the services of the brilliant John Denboer PHD, a marvelous man, a wonderful doctor and a kind soul who was very generous in offering to help us out with this. If you want to become a great doctor, here is what you’ll need.
Love For Education
Many fall into the incorrect notion that a doctor only studies until the moment that they are given a license to practice medicine. The great doctors however, they understand that they are only just starting and they have a real passion for education in this field which continues with them until they retire. The world of medicine is constantly evolving and advancing and the very best doctors both know this, and look to keep track of it.
Team Working
Something else which the great doctors understand is the need to work as part of a team at all times and to make decisions and help patients as a unit rather than as a maverick. Many think that greatness comes from being a trailblazer on their own, but this is only a very small part of what makes the hospital tick. The great doctors are team players and work well with anyone who they are paired with, becasue the patient will always bee the most important thing.
Empathy
Empathy doesn’t mean breaking down in tears with the family, it is about being tactful and respectful in all situations that call for it, and it is also about having the emotional awareness to know when they are in such a situation. Empathy is a key trait of the very best doctors.
Teaching
Another wonderful attribute of the greatest doctors is that they become teachers from a very early age and try their best to help those below them in age and rank, to become better doctors. This is about creating a blossoming medical community which can help all patients, rather than a doctor being single minded when it comes to their profession and their patients. Doctors shovel always support each other and try to help those further down the ladder.
Brave
There is not always a single answer for a problem which a patient presents and that is why a doctor must also be very brave when they are making these decisions, brave in the fact that they may not be right. The great doctors have the ability to weigh up all options and then dive in for the decision which they think is best, knowing that they can live with the choice which they have made.
