Going on a trip? Taking a journey to the Land Down Under where the women glow and the men plunder? Perhaps you are going to take a tour through the glaciers of New Zealand (inside the caves of ice). Maybe you are taking a vacation to the tropics of Bali to swim into the dinosaur’s head.
Wherever you decide to travel to for your vacation getaway, or wherever the needs of your business send you to, you should always pack accordingly. Shirts, pants, and shoes are necessities, just make sure you have the proper clothing. Cell phone and earbuds are great to have on the trip to your destination for listening to music.
But did you pack the hand sanitizer? What about toothpaste or a razor (these cannot go in the overheads, by the way)? These are things that experts and fellow travelers have forgotten and later discovered to be essentials when taking a trip abroad. Below are a few more of the essential items that you should not forget to include in your vacation packing.
First-Aid
Whether your trip is a short one to a local landmark or a famous international site overseas, you should always pack a first aid kit. If your trip involves hiking through rugged terrain or swimming through rocky waters, you will need the first aid kit to help clean up any cuts that might have been incurred.
The water in some countries are not as clean as nature intended, increasing the chance of infections if you are injured while swimming. You will want to clean that cut as soon as possible. There is also the risk that a pharmacy or drug store is not in close proximity to your destination, so you will want to have a first aid kit and be able to access the items stocked inside for minor lacerations or other injuries.
Power Adapters
If you are traveling overseas, know that not all countries use the same style of power outlet as America. There is no global standard when it comes to the voltage of electrical currents. Because of this, you may find that foreign plugs have a very different design than the US.
You will want to check to what kind of plugs are used in your destination country and purchase an adapter for any appliance or electronics you need to bring with you. There are multiple-country adapters that might be good for you if you plan on doing a lot of traveling. They may not work for all countries, but they can ensure you receive power in most of the world.
Fire Stick
A Fire Stick is a device made by Amazon that allows you to stream content onto any screen with a HDMI port. Aside from a compatible TV, you will need to be able to connect to the local Wi-Fi to view your content.
These are great to take with you to countries that do not speak your native language. Instead of watching the local shows and having no idea what is going on, you can watch your favorite movies in the comfort of your hotel room.
Word of caution: not all countries will allow access to your content. Some may restrict access to Amazon based in other geographic regions. If this is the case, you may not be able to watch that movie after all.
Pen
You would think that anywhere you go you will be able to find a writing utensil of some kind. This, as many travelers have unfortunately discovered, is not always the case. Why is a pen so important?
Some countries require you to fill out a form upon entering the country. With so many people arriving, and almost no one thinking of including a pen, large crowds can form before a pen can be found. So if you are going overseas, bring a pen!
