Getting away for a well-deserved break is something that people look forward to all year. Whether you choose to take a long summer vacation or prefer to have a few mini-breaks throughout the year, these getaways are ideal for relaxing and blowing off some steam. As fun as vacations are, it’s important to make sure you have packed more than clothes and your passport to get the best out of your trip. Here are five items that should always be in your suitcase, no matter where you are going.
Adapter Plug
Even if you plan to use minimal technology on your next vacation, you will still need to have at least your phone with you in case of emergencies. Always remember to pack an adapter plug if you are visiting another country; otherwise, you’ll have to spend time when you’re there trying to find one in the local stores. Don’t waste hours of your holiday time searching for something like that, just make sure that one is in your suitcase before you travel.
Sunscreen
Protecting your skin from UV rays is a must, even when you’re not jetting off somewhere hot and sunny for your vacation. Your skin can still be damaged by sunlight on a mild day, which is why having quality SPF protection is key. You can purchase sunscreen at any drugstore or larger supermarket, so stocking up before leaving for your trip shouldn’t be a problem. Just be mindful that you can only take liquids that are 100ml or less in your carry-on luggage, so you might need to put sunscreen in your main suitcase.
Sunglasses and Sunhat
As well as bringing sunscreen, you should also remember to pack these items. They will provide additional protection from the sunlight, especially if you are in a location that has bright sunshine throughout the day. Protect your eyes from the dazzling light by wearing some stylish shades. If you need prescription glasses, you can see your optician about getting the right sunglasses for you. You might also want to think about getting UV protection contact lenses as well for when you’re swimming, or another activity where wearing sunglasses won’t be practical.
Towels
If you’re going to a place with a swimming pool or beach nearby, then you might already be intending to pack a beach towel, but think about taking with you a spare bathroom towel as well. Although the place you’re staying at should provide you with these, sometimes the quality isn’t as great as you’d like it to be. Taking a spare bathroom towel won’t take up too much room in your suitcase, but it will guarantee you extra comfort in case your accommodation disappoints.
First Aid Kit
Again, this is something that would hopefully be available at your accommodation, but you never know how well-equipped that kit will be if it will be there at all. Hopefully, no one will injure themselves while you’re enjoying your vacation, but accidents happen and so having a first aid kit with you is always useful.
While you might be preoccupied with packing toiletries, clothes and taking some of your favorite books with you to read on holiday, make sure you don’t forget to pack these five items either.
