You’ve been indoors for some time now, and you’re starting to get a little too antsy. You’ve already Netflixed and chilled to capacity and your entire house has never been more organized.
We get it- there isn’t much to do during quarantine. There is so much out there that we cannot access when we are locked indoors but there are plenty of ways to relax and unwind during quarantine.
For a lot of individuals, this unprecedented quarantine period has given us more time in our hands than we know to do with. As such, if you are feeling a little too overwhelmed by the state of things and need to relax a little- know that you are not alone.
You may have seen numerous blogs online about how the quarantine time presents the perfect opportunity to get your life back on track. However, all work and not enough play will make you a very dull individual.
So, if you are bored and feeling a little stir crazy and are looking for fun and relaxing things to do while you are stuck indoors, here are some tips to relax at home during quarantine:
Get rid of that excess belly flap
Now is the perfect time to put all th0ose fancy workout apps on your phone to good use. Just because gyms are closed all over doesn’t mean that you have to skip workouts until the lockdown is lifted.
Working out is not only a great way to break away from the monotony of boring quarantine routines, but it can also help you stay relatively sane during these tough times. Even if your focus is not on weight loss, exercise is a great way to stay healthy and keep fit for when the world is finally ready to receive us again.
There are plenty of exercises that you can do at home, from kickboxing to HIIT workouts. Whatever activity it is you prefer; we can bet that there is a workout inspired by it online just waiting for you to try out.
Meditate to recenter yourself
Meditation has been a part of many different cultures all over the world for centuries. It basically involves quieting the mind and being less reactive- and the results are astounding! Research has proven that meditation can help you relax, decrease your chances of falling depressed, which is very likely during quarantine, as well as improve your immune response.
Because everything is so out of order these days, meditation could be just the thing that allows you to survive and thrive. On top of our jobs, a lot of us are also being forced to manage children’s distance learning; an almost impossible feat for regular mortals.
And since we have to be with family more often than most of us would like, sometimes all you need is an escape. When your mind is racing and you can’t seem to keep up with it all, consider taking a moment to meditate.
There are many ways to meditate, from grabbing your yoga mat for a yoga workout to practicing mindfulness. Make sure that you do it regularly so that you can make it a habit to maintain even after the quarantine period is over. You’ll be surprised by how different you will feel after a couple of sessions.
Finally binge-watch all your favorite shows
It is unlikely that you will have wide-open days like this in the future. As such, now is the time to catch up on and binge-watch your favorite shows. Did the Game of Thrones Train miss you? Well now is finally the time to catch up on all those cult shows that you’ve always wanted to watch but never had the time.
Best of all, almost all streaming services now offer free trials so that you can shop around before you find your preferred service. Grab a mug of chocolate, curl up in your jammies and leggings, and get comfy because you’re going to be on that couch for a while. Don’t forget the snacks!
Go to a museum
We know that all the best museums have closed their doors currently due to the looming coronavirus pandemic. But you can still enjoy visiting a museum and you don’t even have to leave your couch or get dressed to do it.
Even if you had planned to visit the Louvre, you can still take a virtual tour from the comfort of your couch. All the best museums are now offering virtual tours and if you have kids, this is a great way to introduce them to art and culture, which is a great way to stay productive during this period.
Attend a concert
So, you’re not going to make it to Jill Scott’s concert that you had anticipated for and planned for weeks. Grab your favorite bottle of wine and settle in for an evening or afternoon with all your favorite stars. A lot of your favorite celebrities are now offering live concerts and performances online so that you can keep enjoying all the songs and artists that you love.
What’s so great about these live events is that they are free, which means that you can take advantage of concerts that you typically would not be able to afford, did not have time to attend, or were not fast enough to book a ticket. Now that’s a win in every book!
