It’s the gift-giving season and once again, we are staring into the face of a hard reality: Giving gifts is hard. One of the things that makes it a little easier is narrowing down the process to a specific theme. You are not just giving a gift to a person, but to a woman. You can narrow it down further. She is not just a woman, but a frequent traveler. By doing that, it makes it much easier to know exactly what type of gifts you are looking for. Do this for all the people on your list and you will find the task to be more manageable.
When you are getting gifts for people with specific interests, you will have to poll them to know what they have and what they want. It is okay to ask. They are enthusiasts, they already have the things they want. They are not waiting around for people to give them things from their hobbies. Every carpenter in your life already has a good hammer. And if they don’t, well, they’ll replace their missing hammer soon enough on their own. If the special woman in your life travels occasionally, here are a few ways to stuff the stockings with something that will be well received.
Comfortable Shoes
You want to avoid purchasing clothes as gifts because sizes can be very tricky. You are almost certainly sending them to the store for an exchange. Rather, offer a gift card with a set value so they can get what they like the first time. Use this strategy when gifting comfortable walking sneakers for women. You know your traveler is also a walker. That is going to be a given. They will already have a few pairs of walking shoes they like. But you can rest assured that they will always need another pair. It is the kind of thing that travelers will always need.
If a gift card is not available, you can provide them with a website and a voucher up to a certain amount that you will reimburse. If you want to take it to the next level, you can provide them with something like a prepaid Visa up to a certain amount. Make that amount near the higher end of the offered range so that the person does not feel overly restrained when shopping for their options.
A Ridiculous Travel Cup
There are travel cups, and there are ridiculous travel cups. They already have a good practical cup. But there are those that are priced out of their interest either because of the branding or the technology. That doesn’t mean they wouldn’t want to have it. It only means they are too practical to buy it. There are many gifts for the coffee nerd in your life. But the easiest gift is some type of mug.
You can get an electronic travel mug that keeps the temperature of the coffee at a predetermined degree for as long as the battery lasts. You can get them a USB cup warmer that connects to the computer. (What could possibly go wrong?) Or you can look into unpowered but highly insulated cups that claim to keep the coffee hot or the chilled drink cold for several hours before succumbing to the laws of thermodynamics. If you know they like to collect coffee mugs, you can just get them a standard mug emblazoned with a funny message. For the traveler, you can’t really go wrong with a ridiculous coffee accessory.
Music and Movies
You can pick up iTunes gift cards anywhere. If your traveler has an iPhone, iPad, or Mac, those gift cards can be turned into an album or movie they might want to consume on a long drive or flight. There are Android equivalents as well. You don’t have to pick the music or movies for them unless you are feeling lucky. The best thing to do is give them a gift card that would be worth the equivalent of 3 or 4 movies or albums. As travelers, they will have no problem at all spending every penny of it on the entertainment that works best in their ecosystem.
If your gift list includes travelers, give them the gift of comfortable walking shoes, a ridiculous travel mug, or the gift of entertainment. They will never have too much of either, and they’ll also be sure to appreciate your thoughtful present.
