Macmillan Cancer Support
Macmillan Cancer Support is widely regarded as one of the UK’s biggest charities. The charity also provides people with physical and emotional support too. In 2018, Macmillan Cancer Support reached 6.7million people affected by cancer and it continues to this day.
Great Ormond Street Hospital
Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity is a non-profit charity which supports the children’s hospital of the same name which is located in London. Although the NHS covers the day-to-day costs of the hospital, the charity fundraises money for the hospital and aims to raise over £50 million each year to fund aid, up-to-date medical equipment, research, as well as accommodation for staff and family.
GambleAware
GambleAware is an independent charity that works with the UK Gambling Commission – the body that regulates online casinos and sister sites – to implement prevention services across the UK. The organisation works with the NHS to offer treatment to gambling addicts and works with several other charities such as the National Gambling Helpline to provide help and support to gamblers across the UK. WWF
The WWF (World Wide Fun) for Nature is a charity which launched in 1986. The organisation aims to preserve wildlife and reduce human impact on the environment. Through the charity, people are also able to adopt an animal and, in the process, protect precious habitats and fund the organisationt to continue its work.
RSPCA
The RSPCA (Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) is an organisation that promotes animal welfare and the largest and oldest in the world. The charity aims to bring an end to animal cruelty through its campaigns. It investigates and persecutres those that do harm animals, while trained officers work with the animals to rescue, rehabilitate, care for, and rehome them. Through the charity, people are also able to adopt rehabilitated animals including cats, dogs, rabbits, horses, birds, farm animals, and more.
Age UK
Age UK is a charity that formed in 2009 and works to provide help, companionship, and support to elderly people. The organisation tackles loneliness and domestic abuse, while also ensuring that those later in life are given the health care they require. Age UK currently has over 75,000 volunteers and has around 450 shops located all over the UK which accept donations for the organisation.
Crisis
Crisis is a charity that aims to combat homelessness in the UK. The organisation, which was founded in 1967, offers education, employment, and housing series to homeless people based around the UK. It also runs its Crisis at Christmas which provides homeless people with food and companionship over the Christmas period. Between 2018 and 2019, the organisation helped around 1,000 homeless people find secure homes.
