ServeNext and ServiceNation Join Forces

In 2006, ServeNext launched in response to four consecutive years of congressional cuts to national service programs like AmeriCorps and Senior Corps.  It was founded on the belief that to make national service a national priority there must be a powerful, citizen-led constituency capable of holding Members of Congress accountable.  Over the next five years, ServeNext became the leader in grassroots advocacy for national service.

In January of 2012 ServeNext merged with ServiceNation, combining ServeNext's grassroots approach and ServiceNation's grass-tops approach - along with resources, skills, and staffs -  to more effectively and efficiently work toward our shared vision that one day a commonly asked question among Americans will be: "Where did you do your year of national service?"

As a result of the merger:

  • We recruited and support the first team of full-time field roganizers in the history of the national service movement
  • We've grown our community from 60,000 members to 140,000
  • Most importantly, the work of our field team, members, coalition, and partners helped save 26,000 AmeriCorps positions from elimination in Congress

Read more about the impact and accomplishments in the year since we've merged. You can also read more of the background behind the merger on the ServiceNation blog.

As a result of the merger, we've closed ServeNext's webiste and are soon launching a new, comprehensive ServiceNation website with all of the tools you will need to help advance national service.

Stay up to date on developments in the field, follow us on Twitter and Facebook, and volunteer to be a district captain

Thanks for your energy and support!!
