Find Volunteer Opportunities to Support the Military

With guidance from the Veterans Innovation Center, MilServe.org is the nation’s leading volunteer site dedicated to the military community.
Milserve.org is powered by the All for Good consortium, and is supported by www.military.com.

Forging a Continuum of Service

Mission ServeMission Serve activates dedicated civilian and military public servants across America to more closely bond our service and military communities, enabling each community to strengthen the other and ultimately strengthen our nation. The initiative partners the ServiceNation coalition’s civilian-service organizations with veterans groups, military family groups, and active-duty and reserve components of each military branch. These partnerships will more closely integrate service to country with service to community, and will help grow the service movement that is critical to America's future success.

The Launch

In honor of Veterans Day, ServiceNation will inaugurate MISSION SERVE: Forging a Continuum of Service, a network of 36 initiatives partnering civilian and military service organizations to meet the critical needs of our nation, troops, military families, and veterans. Bank of America is a proud program partner of MISSION SERVE.

First Lady Michelle Obama, Dr. Jill Biden, Alma Powell, Sway Calloway, and Nicola Goren will host a kickoff event at George Washington University on Wednesday, November 11.

The Vision

Service to country is a powerful act of idealism, and the ServiceNation Civilian-Military Initiative aims to unite the worlds of military and civilian service, tapping the energy, wisdom and experience of the millions of citizens—in uniform and out—who are dedicated to strengthening America through their service, and uniting them in support of one another.

The initiative has two strategic goals:

  1. Engaging civilians and active and retired military personnel in service to meet the many critical needs of our nation and, in particular, the needs of the military community (service members, veterans, and their families).
  2. Better integrating our nation’s military community into service alongside the civilian community.

What We Do

1. Supporting Military Families

Rising suicide rates, post-traumatic stress disorder, and health issues are just a few of the intense stresses of military life. Nothing helps warriors more than strong families. We are working to give military families the emotional, medical and everyday support they need to stay strong and help their loved ones in service overcome these challenges.

Watch the public service announcement to the right featuring First Lady Michelle Obama and Dr. Jill Biden, produced by the Entertainment Industry Foundation and Major League Baseball Charities' Welcome Back Veterans initiative, encouraging all Americans to give back to our service men and women and their families.

2. Veteran and Military Family Employment

Employment is central to quality of life. We are building systems designed to help both wounded and healthy veterans find meaningful and gainful employment, including vocational assessments, education/training, job search, and mentoring.

3. Engaging More Service Members, Veterans, and Military Families in Civilian Service (With a Focus on Education)

The millions of Americans who make up our military community are an enormous but underused resource of disciplined, educated, and motivated people. This project will connect military communities and military organizations with their civilian-service counterparts, to enable them to work together and share best practices across a range of sectors, especially education.
