Are You Ready to Participate?

Starting this month, the Entertainment Industry Foundation (EIF) will mobilize the entire entertainment community around a groundbreaking multi-year initiative designed to inspire a new era of service in America. The campaign is called “iParticipate,” and the idea is to make service a part of who we are as Americans and show what we can achieve when we all pull together (USA Today has a detailed feature on iParticipate here).

“Last year’s ServiceNation summit really inspired our creation of the iParticipate campaign” Lisa Paulsen, President and CEO of EIF.

ServiceNation is providing strategic support to EIF’s iParticipate by working with its member organizations to provide quality volunteer experiences for Americans who are inspired to answer the call to serve, and by helping its member organizations promote those service opportunities and report the outcomes of their efforts. We are proud to support iParticipate's unprecedented contribution to expand the service movement, which will bring us closer to realizing our vision of a day when a commonly asked question in America is, "Where do you serve?"

Service On Television

As the centerpiece for this initiative, EIF has enlisted the four major broadcast networks -- ABC, CBS, FOX and NBC -- for an unprecedented, week-long television event beginning October 19th. For the entire week, these and other networks will use our favorite TV shows to shine a spotlight on the power of service. More than fifty prime-time shows have already agreed to participate. For seven days straight, whether viewers tune-in to shows like ABC’s Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, NBC’s 30 Rock, CBS’s CSI: Miami or Fox’s So You Think You Can Dance – they will see programs infused with the ideal of service.

Public Service Campaign

Celebrities help define our culture, and EIF is already working with leading entertainers to produce a series of public service announcements that will promote the ideal of service and inspire Americans to volunteer in their communities (watch them here). Five areas of service will be highlighted: Education & Children, Health & Well Being, Economic Development, Environmental Conservation, and Support for Military Families. Jesse Dylan, the creative force behind Bono’s “Red” and “One” campaigns, and will.i.am’s iconic “Yes, We Can” video will create, direct and produce the PSAs.

iParticipate.org

The online home for this multi-year service campaign, is www.iParticipate.org, which makes it easier than ever for millions of Americans to find volunteer opportunities in their local communities, and step forward to serve. It has a great volunteer opportunities search engine, calendars of events, maps, digital tool kits and ready-made local recommendations for how people can get involved. You can join the movement and help spread the word.
