MLK Day Meal Deliveries (VNA Meals on Wheels) (Service Event)

Please join VNA Meals on Wheels for our 2nd annual MLK Day special meal delivery volunteer opportunity on Monday, January 16, 2012.  We will be serving hot lunch meals to 4,000 homebound seniors and disabled persons throughout Dallas County.  A typical route will serve 10-14 clients in a compact geographic area.  Your route will be packed out in two standard-sized Igloo coolers (hot and cold foods), and you'll be given a client address/phone list and turn by turn driving directions.  You'll be delivering hot meals door to door, and providing a little social interaction for our isolated seniors. 

 

Volunteers must sign up by Monday, January 9th to reserve a route.  Families are welcome.  Children of any age are welcome as long as there is at least one adult in the vehicle.  You will receive a volunteer info packet in advance, and be given an arrival time between 10:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m.  All meals will be picked up at VNA Meals on Wheels - 1440 W. Mockingbird Lane, Dallas TX 75247.  You can expect to be finished by noon or shortly thereafter.
