ServiceNation Wants You To Play Online Games (That Give)

We've already told you (here, and here) about Games That Give, a genius idea that matches corporate sponsors with online game-playing to raise money for worthy causes. Just in case you aren't already an addict, and need a reminder, GTG has recruited a group of companies (including the likes of Pepsi, Starbucks and Best Buy) that will make donations to selected nonprofits as people play fun and addictive online games like Smashteroids, BubbleBurst, and Sudoku (there are lots of games to choose from).

Why will the corporate sponsors do this, you might ask? Well, not because your personal info is somehow being hijacked for nefarious commercial purposes, but because GTG has embedded subtle coporate branding into the games themselves (so the dark reaches of space in Smashteroids, for example, might have a ghostly image of a bottle of Propel, another sponsor). And the longer you play, subliminally absorbing that corporate branding in a painless and unharmful way, the more money the sponsor will kick in to your nonprofit of choice. We told you it was a genius idea.

Well, we are happy to report that ServiceNation is now one of the nonprofits you can direct your online game-playing largesse toward. And we are pretty excited about that because we know that you love your computer, and we know that lots of you also love online games. So why not help us out while you are playing the day away (not to worry, GTG has the forethought to include a Boss Button which throws up a pseudo-spread sheet when you need it)? You are doing something good while you have fun, and GTG reduces the guilt quotient for any true gaming addicts (you know who you are).

You can sign up to create an account on Games That Give here. And you can check out the ServiceNation page on GTG here. You can even designate SN as your default nonprofit (please?).

When GTG figures out how to get their gaming platform into an iPhone app (and I am sure they are hard at work on that right now), it's gonna be HUGE. So get gaming (and giving) now. Your favorite nonprofit will thank you.
